Novato City Council Violates Voters' Rights. Help CLEC Fight Back!
CLEC wrote a citizens’ initiative that requires the contractors with the city of Novato, California to use E-Verify to confirm that the contractors hire only legal residents. We gathered the required number of signatures and, according to California Elections Code, the Novato City Council must either make our initiative the law or put our initiative on the ballot.
At their June 22 meeting, City Council members decided to take no action on the initiative, to neither make it law nor put it on the ballot for voters. The Novato City Council has denied voters' their rights by ignoring the CLEC initiative!
Help us fight this injustice and get the initiative on the ballot.
We need to hire a lawyer to challenge the City Council.
Contributions to force the City to place the initiative on the ballot to:
Citizens for Legal Employment and Contracting
P.O. Box 1057
Novato, CA 94948-1057
